The Florida Chapter is completing a strategic plan which will guide its conservation efforts for the next decade, and the Chapter is in the planning phase of a comprehensive fundraising campaign to support the plan for the next five years. The Florida Chapter is one of the Conservancy’s critical markets with significant wealth/philanthropic capacity. Because of the scale and scope of our conservation mission, the Florida Chapter is expected to be a key contributor to achieving fundraising objectives for global, as well as local and regional priorities.
The Florida Director of Philanthropy (DOP) leads the Florida Chapter staff of The Nature Conservancy in oversight, planning, and implementation of a comprehensive philanthropy program that secures significant philanthropic resources from individuals, corporations, and foundations based in Florida to support The Nature Conservancy’s conservation priorities in Florida and around the world. The DOP recruits, develops, and inspires a staff of high-performing philanthropy professionals to manage and solicit current and prospective donors with the capacity to make major and principal-level gifts in support of domestic and global conservation priorities.
The DOP will ensure the Florida Chapter makes significant contributions to the Conservancy’s organization-wide campaign, including both domestic and global priorities. Additionally, the DOP must be able to work in collaboration with conservation experts, philanthropy staff around the world, high-level volunteers, and others across a dispersed and complex organization. S/he holds a portfolio and has personal responsibility for managing a select number of donor relationships aimed at securing seven and eight-figure gifts over time.
